Our Philosophy is Pride of Ownership.

Downtown Development Group LLC and its affiliates have an ownership interest in more than 1,800,000 square feet of retail, office and warehouse in addition to over 25 parcels of shovel ready, developable land in Portland’s Central Business District. 

Properties that the Goodman family and their affiliates have interest in include 230 Ash, 11W, Crown Plaza, the Union Bank of California building, the Pioneer Park Building and Portal Industrial Center Phase II. The Goodman family also holds an interest in a number of parking structures and surface lots. 

Major tenants include Nike, Columbia Sportswear, Chase Bank, First Republic Bank, Capital One, QFC, Sephora, Starbucks, Chrysler, Precision Cast Parts, Macy’s, and Lease Crutcher Lewis. 

The Goodman family owned City Center Parking from 1955 – 2012, which operated more than 30,000 parking spaces and employed 475 individuals in the Portland Metropolitan area. 

The company is owned by the Goodman Family who has been investing in Portland commercial for over 60 years.

Our Team

Doug Goodman

Founder

Doug Goodman and his father Walter started City Center Parking in 1955. After leading CCP through significant growth, the parking company, with over 200 locations, was sold in 2012. The real estate acquired through the years, both surface parking lots and buildings, was retained by the family to be used as a platform for future generations to make their contribution to the City of Portland.

Mark Goodman

Co-President

Mark Goodman is active in the real estate business and oversees the family properties. He graduated from the University of Oregon. Mark serves on the board of Oregon Health Science University Foundation, The Portland Art Museum, and Portland Mall Management Inc.

Greg Goodman

Co-President

Greg is an avid supporter of the City of Portland, diligently working to make the city a more vibrant place for business and a comfortable place for people to live and work. Greg is a strong supporter of local charitable organizations and has been a board member of Self Enhancement Inc., Pioneer Courthouse Square, The Portland Business Alliance, and the Clean and Safe Business Improvement District.

Matthew Goodman

Vice President

Matt was born and raised in Portland, but began his real estate career in New York City. While there, he worked in JP Morgan’s Global Real Assets group and subsequently at GI Partners, a real-estate focused private equity firm. Matt earned a BA in Political Science at Yale University and an MBA at UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business. He serves on the boards of The Portland Business Alliance, Oregon Sports Authority, Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, Clean and Safe, Pioneer Courthouse Square, and LOCUS.

Stephen Goodman

Vice President

At Downtown Development Group, Stephen focuses on the company’s ground up construction and tenant improvement projects across all asset classes. Prior to joining Downtown Development Group, Stephen worked in the Private Bank at JP Morgan and later served as a senior development manager at Lennar Multifamily Communities, where he managed the development of apartment buildings in Seattle and Portland. Stephen graduated from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin in 2013. Stephen currently serves on the board of Sustainable Northwest and is focusing on its green building initiatives.

Michael Lortz

Chief Financial Officer

Michael was born in Portland and has spent most of his life in the Pacific Northwest. He worked for 17 years at a prominent local accounting firm becoming the firm’s youngest shareholder and developing significant expertise in real estate tax planning including the federal Opportunity Zone program before joining DDG in 2019. A graduate of the University of Idaho, Michael is a CPA, a LEED AP, and a recipient of the Portland Business Journal’s 2015 Forty Under 40 award. He has served on various non-profit boards and as a leader within the church he attends.

Adam Taylor

Director of Asset Management

Passionate about building strong teams and systems, Adam has a diverse background in commercial real estate, including construction management for a national GC, an owner’s rep for a regional development firm, and a green building consultant. Immediately prior to joining DDG, Adam spent eight years at a global brokerage company where he executed over $2B in sales transactions, earning Investment Sales Team of the Year honors in 2020 and 2022 from the Commercial Association of Brokers. A Portland enthusiast, Adam is active with the Urban Land Institute, and was formerly on the Board of Community Energy Project.
